About the Business
Rutland may be the smallest county in England but in terms of antique shops and centres it sits alongside some of the biggest. The second largest town in Rutland is Uppingham, situated just off the A47 between Peterborough and Leicester and to the south of the picturesque Rutland Water, and is a "must visit" for the antiques enthusiast. Uppingham is a "hidden gem" that reminds you of the typical old English town with individual shops dominating the high street with hardly a multiple in sight. In Uppingham there are five antique shops and two antique centres, which must rate it as the perfect place to spend a day rummaging and searching for the next addition to the collection or that perfect gift. The Rutland Antiques Centre is located in the old stable block just behind the Crown Hotel. It is only 50 yards off the High Street, simply follow the signs on the archway of the Crown Hotel.
