About the Business
The business was founded in the late 70's by husband and wife team Steve and Caroline Groves and has since gone from strength to strength. The name derives both from Steve's ancestoral connections with Thomas Hardy himself and the area in which we are situated, deep in the historic Dorset countryside. Nearby are many tourist attractions such as the famous Cerne Giant and the beautiful coastline. Our main showroom and workshop are in Melbury Osmond.
All our furniture is from the Georgian through to the Edwardian period, lovingly restored to its natural beauty, with repairs if needed kept to an absolute minimum. You will not find any reproduction furniture in our showrooms and we can guarantee that every item is hand finished with love and attention. Although our speciality is pine, we are also able to offer Antique Oak and Mahogany furniture, all of the same high standard.
