About the Business
Grays was established by Bennie Gray in 1977. Situated within a beautiful Nineteenth century terracotta building in the heart of London's West End, Grays is at the epicentre of the art and antique dealing world.
The splendid Grade 2 listed building was commissioned by John Bolding and Son, the water closet manufacturers. In the Nineteenth century they vied with Thomas Crapper for supremacy, and whilst it is his name rather than theirs that has entered the dictionary they nevertheless left us a supreme legacy, in the building that is now Grays. In the true spirit of the great nineteenth century merchants they took great pride in creating from scratch a headquarters that was just as much a thing of beauty as a functional site. It is this tradition that Bennie Gray bore in mind when he set about restoring the near-derelict glories of the former water closet showroom.
